Morning Side hails from Atlanta, Georgia. The band was first formed
in 2002 by Byron Long (Vocals / Bass) and Daniel Gelbaum (Lead guitar).
The two were inspired by Pink Floyd, the Beatles, the Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead,
and experimented with Electronic Synth sounds combined with guitars and pianos.
Eventually, the two decided to team up with other musicians and use more traditional
sounds to better suit live performances. They rotated musicians and made their
way onto the Altanta music scene at venues like Vinyl, Under the Couch, the
10 High, and Lenny's. Their sound evolved from mellow and ambient to aggressive,
edgy, and energetic while preserving the same atmosphere.
They recruited Joe Costanzo (Keyboard / Rhythm Guitar). A classically
trained percussionist who had several years' experience as a drummer with different
acts whose multi-instrumental inclinations added versatility to the group. Soon,
singer-songwriter Will Thigpen (Vocals / Guitar / Drums), inspired by Bright
Eyes, Cursive, Fallout Boy, Paramore as well as U2 and Led Zeppelin
came along and finished the full band line up.
The four are currently working on their first album and making their debut on the
Atlanta music scene.
